JULIE PELAEZ - AVAILABLE ARTWORK
“LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE” COLLECTION
“The ‘Like Attracts Like’ series is born out of the “Law of Attraction” which states that the energy we put out into the world is the same energy that comes back to us. In a year where we’ve been dealt plenty of reasons to focus on the negative, this intentional shift in perspective becomes even more important. Each piece in the collection touches on a certain desired energy, while the outer shapes bend and shift to feed off of the larger inner shapes. The shapes themselves creatively symbolize energy at the molecular level, with a core representing our inner beings/thoughts vs. an outer shell of how we portray ourselves outwardly.
Each 18″ x 24″ artwork is a total labor of love. On top of layers of ink and iridescent metallic acrylic, the ink and paper shapes float between multiple layers of resin to create depth and shadow. The color palettes directly correlate to the identified energy. Each one-of-a-kind piece is signed and ready to hang.” – Julie Pelaez

ABOUT THE ARTIST

“The short story is I create because it lights me up. As a storyteller, abstract art is my language to convey the lessons in self discovery that I continue to learn and reinforce the person I hope to become. Through themes of empowerment and rich with hidden symbolism, my art cultivates connection while elevating interiors. Each artwork is so much more than a pretty rectangle on the wall. There is a personal narrative, an inspiration, a rallying cry. Every collection stems from its own unique concept communicated through different combinations of mediums and materials. The questions the artworks ask require self reflection on the part of the viewer as we all try to become better versions of ourselves.
Artsy backstory: Daughter to watercolor artist; BFA from University of Delaware; 10 year career as Advertising Art Director prior to discovering my calling as a fine artist
Aside from art, I’ve been married 20+ years to my best friend, I’m a mother of 2 teen boys with extreme hobbies (go kart racing and aviation), I enjoy playing tennis, word games and I’m a mediocre cook at best. I passionately soak up life and squeeze out color from my home studio in Austin, Texas.”
